Australian Official Claims G4S Guards Stomped on Skull of Iranian Asylum Seeker
SOURCE: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TIMES
According to a security guard, the Iranian asylum seeker killed in a violent jail-break at the Australian Manus Island detention camp was killed by a guard working for the security contractor G4S. The account, obtained by News Corp, suggests that during a riot, local guards jumped on Reza Barati’s head in a “frenzy” as he lay defenseless on the ground.
In another report, an Australian officer, who did not want to be named, said the that the detention center was a “horrendous chicken pen” where guards are regularly forced to cut down detainees trying to hang themselves. The guard said the riot was inevitable because of the poor management by G4S.
