Many Palestinians have been jailed in G4S equipped prisons for political activities and for engaging in non-violent protests. The Israeli government has charged these activists under Military Order 101 which establishes prohibitions and restrictions on various types of gatherings and expression. According to B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, Order 101 “imposes far-reaching restrictions on freedom of expression and the freedom to demonstrate.” For example, in response to the arrests of Palestinian activists at the separation wall, Human Rights Watch has said, “The Israeli authorities are effectively banning peaceful expression of political speech by bringing spurious charges against demonstrators, plus detaining children and adults without basic due process protections.”
